REAL extra credit!!

I Don't Care by Mar

Why is that hate? Why is that rage?
My mind is free; I don't live in a cage
You hate my religion, you don't worship my God
You think I'm a terrorist, a freaking fraud
I wait in the airport for a whole day
"We're sorry" isn't that what you say?
You think I'm stupid, can't spell A to Z
Can't multiply two by three
You don't like my face neither my race
You think there's a nuclear bomb in my place
There's no gun or a bomb around my chest
My people are all scientists, among the best
You lie in the news, behind my back
You paint my golden history in black
I'm a Muslim Arabic, I walk with proud
Over my Prophet (PBUH) , there used to fly a cloud
You want me dead? That's what I was told
You want to kill our terrorist children before they're old!
Say whatever you want, I DON'T CARE!
You weren't, you're not and you'll never be fair.

I thought this poem was a thought provoker. And in my judgement, deepy profound. This poem relates to The Crucible because the people wrongly judged in the book, and in real life, are like the also wrongly accused person in this poem. An interesting twist this poem gives to my perspective; the comparison between so-called terrorists and so-called witches.
From my perspective, the event of the witch trials don't seem surreal like they are to some. Because for me I realize that society and suspicion could cause this sort of event anywhere and anytime, regardless of how advanced we are, or how "civilized" the world has become. The segregation and oppressing of things we fear or do not understand will always be present, because the world is ever changing .:. there is and will always be an unknown. Maybe these events happen because people make the mistake of pushing away, instead of embracing it, nurturing it, and that is why we take sides. Because humans are more likely fear something they do not understand, and hate things they fear. Isn't that why one may say, "I hate the dark", or, "I hate the water"?

mrs. Gilman, does a poem count as a song?
